Thank God for Wednesdays

Short and sweet..

Just a quick post  to tell you that Ralphy ended up going on the field trip.. thank God because I think I would've been more upset then him. If  you have no idea what I'm talking about  then read this.

That little talk with the teacher seemed to work. He has been good ever since and I'm glad because let me tell you, I don't handle "talks with  the teacher" very well. I know what you're thinking " girl you better get over it" and I know this, but I'm not ready, give me time.

In other news, I'm still working out like a mad woman, working and everything else in between. My birthday is this month and I've always loved my birthday while I was  growing up, but I'm not as excited anymore.. wonder why.

Ralphy's school  is celebrating Hispanic heritage week this week and he had to wear a hat  that represents the country our family is from,  in our case its the  Dominican Rep.

If that's not the cutest face on this entire planet, I really don't know what is... He is the cutest, EVER- said his mommy :)

Hello lovies

I know, I know I suck!! I haven't been posting as often as before. Its been a crazy month and its only the October 5th!.. Anyways, let me give you some updates:

I've been working out like a mad woman and I love it! I really want to get in shape. Its more than just to lose weight and look sexy, because you already know, I'm one sexy b***h!

Ralphy is growing faster than I would've ever imagined. He is coloring in between the lines and getting dressed all by himself.. well mostly.

I did have my first serious talk with Ralphy's teacher, about his behavior. He's having a bad week. Today after I spoke to the teacher and we both spoke to him, he had a much better day. Maybe the fact that he's having a field trip tomorrow has something to do with it? hmmm I wonder. I did tell him that if he did not behave he will not be going. You know I was at work praying that he did better. It would break my heart if he had to stay behind while the rest of the class went on the field trip. Thankfully, it all worked out. For now.

If you guys have any tips on how to handle bad report from the teacher, pass them along would you? This is a new phase of motherhood for me..

One more thing, I opened a Tumblr. Check it out when you get a chance. I needed a place where I could just write about random things, hence the name Random thoughts. Its something that I just started. Some feedback would be appreciated.

I hope you're all doing well and thank you so much for sticking around.

My fun filled weekend

This weekend was great, it was fun , it was simply amazing! First, it started Friday night, I came  home from work and daddy was in charge of dinner, which translates to either pizza or Chinese food. The last couple of  Fridays, its been pizza because that's what Ralphy wants to eat. I really don't care what we eat as long as its well cooked and I'm not the one cooking it. Friday is mommy's day off from the kitchen. I heart Fridays

Then came Saturday, usually we are up early because like my son says" I'm done sleeping" and Ralphy  is usually "done" sleeping by 7 in the morning and this Saturday was no exception. If you follow me on twitter, you know that the one thing I can't live without in the morning is coffee. Once I have my cup or two, I usually go to the gym with my mom and sister in law. This Saturday, was different. My cousin was visiting from New York and we hadn't seen each other in years. Needless to say, I was super excited to see her.

After my morning manicure and pedicure appointment with my mom, we got all dolled up and headed to South Beach. I live in Miami and I never go to South Beach because its just not my thing anymore, but since my cousin was visiting, we made it an event. We decided to meet at Monty's. Its a seafood type of place and its very yummy, Not only was it yummy, but the view was not too bad either. I enjoyed some great appetizers and Margaritas.

If you ever come down to South beach, this is a place you might  want to visit. Good food, good drinks great ambiance.

The ambiance was really amazing, but what made it even more special, was the fact that  it was  being enjoyed with family.  I hadn't seen my cousins in years and it was really nice to see everyone.

Sunday, is grandparents day. We took Ralphy to see my in laws and it was a very relaxing and low key evening. By the time we got home, Ralphy was knocked out and I got to relax with the hubby and watch  TV. Oh and did I mention that it was our 7th year anniversary? We didn't do anything special, just having some down time at the end of the day was enough for us. Perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Missing in action

I've been missing in action, I know and I'm sorry. I've been busy with other things and I could sit here and make excuses, but  I don't really have any. So there. I said it. Don't be mad. What's new? well let's see...

I've been working out and it feels good.  I've been going  to the gym 6 times a week and I've lost 6 pounds.. awesome.. I know!!

My munchkin  is loving PK-3 and he's an awesome little boy... but  if you have been reading this blog for awhile, you might already know that.

I hope you are all doing well. Thank you for keeping me in your blog roll and not deleting me. I will try to post more often.. even if its just once a week.

That is all for now.

On to the next chapter

Today  the kids went back to school. Ralphy started Pk-3(  Pre-Kindergarten for 3 year olds) and he got to wear his big boy uniform. Green polo shirt and khaki pants. He looked so cute!  He  even told me he looked like the older kids and he liked that.  Its so crazy how one minute he is born and the next he's going to PK3, I mean who gave him permission to grow up so fast?

Then I started thinking that in a few months, he turns 4 and then next year he starts VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) and   my heart starts beating fast, my hands start sweating, then before I know it, he will have a girlfriend and be off to college and get a job and get married and have children.... OMG!!. Okay, I'm done. I get a tiny bit carried away. Sometimes.

The important thing is that Ralphy had a  great day and he told me that he also learned that  how only babies acted like "babies", but  that he was a big boy, so he knew better. Lets see how long that lasts.

On my mind this week

Because I want to look like this :

What?  I'm in denial .. I know, but I want to get as close to that as possible. So, I've been eating every 3 hours and doing a lot of this:

And this:

And  of course this:

And a little bit of this:

Why didn't anyone tell me that exercising in the morning gave you so much energy? Its like the world's greatest kept secret. Side note- if you're new to my blog, this is my attempt at humor, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. You decide.

What's on your mind this week?

P.S. Just in case you were wondering, these people are not me. This is me:

This  was me on 8/6/2011 going to a party. I  clean up well don't I?

Weekends

I hope you all had a great and relaxing weekend. I for one, had a very busy weekend, but then again what else is new?. I had a lot of things to do around the house. If you read my previous post, you know I was having major issues last week because I was so behind with my cleaning. Doing the bare minimum can only get you so far, but I digress.

I also started working out!  Yes, people I finally did it. I set my alarm clock for 4:50A and I was at the gym by 5:11A. I'm not going to lie, when I got home after my work out and I took a shower, I felt great, I felt accomplished. I felt like I could do it all.  I like that feeling and I plan to continue going not only to  look better, but feel better as well.

Speaking of feeling better,  I also went for a manicure and pedicure.  My mom and I have being going every other week. I think its so important to treat yourself to a little girl time. Wether its with a friend, your sister  or your mom, nothing makes you feel better than some girl time, especially if  it  includes  a mani and pedi, well  a pair of new shoes would work just fine as well. :)

So how was your weekend? What did you  guys do?

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Overwhelmed much?

This is how I'm feeling this week, don't really know why.  I've noticed that I get like this when my house (and by house I mean our 2 bedroom/2bath apartment)  is not as neat or clean as I want it to be. The last couple of weekends have been busy, so I really haven't done much, but the bare minimum. Is  it bad that the state your house is in, determines the way your state of mind is? or even your mood? But, that's just part of it, between work, Ralphy and of course, the husband, it takes work and it can feel a little overwhelming sometimes.
I'm planning on getting things back on track this weekend and do some major cleaning and organizing. I'm also adding working out to my list, but I  see that as a good thing.  I will keep you posted on that little project. In the mean time,I will be content  just by having a  clean house... Well, a new pair of shoes would be nice, but for now, I'll take the  clean house.

Mommy, I want a little brother..

This is what Ralphy said to me a couple days ago. It actually caught me by surprise, I didn't even know what to say and then he added " not a sister mommy a brother, I already have a sister." My son, has an older sister that he loves. He loves to bother her and play with her, he loves to get her attention.

She is  10 years older than him and she doesn't live with us, but she stays with us during the Summer and now that Ralphy is getting a little older, he's really enjoying  the time with her even more and I love it. They are cute together in a loud and crazy kind of way. Just like a brother and sister should  be.

You may be asking yourself " what's the big deal about Ralphy wanting a little brother?" The problem is that my husband doesn't  want anymore kids.  The way things are with the economy and everything else in the world, he  thinks it would be hard for us  in the financial  department and I get that and I know his right. He wants to be able to provide for both of his kids and I guess he feels that 3 (for him)  is too big of a number and I understand, I really do, but  I want another baby. There I said it.

I have friends that were  the only  child growing up and they all  say the same thing " I wished  I had a brother or sister."  I sometimes think about that and it breaks my heart to think that Ralphy is going  to be lonely. I can't imagine how my life would have been like without my brother. We have a special bond and I would love for Ralphy to have that as well.

Ralphy is blessed, he has his sister and he has his cousins that he loves and I know he will have a great relationship with them. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I remain hopeful that one day my husband will change his mind and if it doesn't happen, then it was just not meant to be and I will forever be thankful for the son I do have, but I'm not going to lie, it sure would be nice.

New month.. New Attitude!

I can't believe its  already  August. Time does fly when you're having fun. I for one, I'm so happy its August for several reasons, but my main reason is that Summer is almost over. Yes,  people I'm part of the few that do not like  the heat. I can't stand what it does to my hair. I'm a complete frizz ball if I don't walk around with a flat iron. Just kidding, I don't walk around with a flat iron, but you know what I mean. Everyone woman in the  universe knows that the best hair days come after Summer. Its a fact of life. Okay, enough of that, lets move on.

This month, I'm  also trying to be a little bit healthier with my eating ( what else is new), but not only that, I'm going back to the  gym! You can all close your mouths now. Its way over due. I don't like the way I've been  feeling lately and I know  its because I haven't being  feeling great about my looks and  when I say looks, I mean my weight. So, its time to get off my lazy ass and do something about it. Plain and simple. That's coming up  soon, so as soon as I start, I will update for sure.  Should I do a before picture post?? hmmmm let me think about that some more.

I also wanted to introduce to you my dear friend Angel, she started blogging  at  mommy all day, she is a stay at home mom ( well sort of she  just went back to work) and  she has two amazing kids. You will  have to read her blog to find out more. So, please stop by and tell her Alex sent you  :)

I hope you all have an amazing week and amazing month of August.

My baby is not a baby anymore.

This is post was inspired  by mama Kat's writing workshop and one of her prompts : A moment you realized your child was growing up.  I thought about this for days and I couldn't think of one single moment, but  few "little" moments came to mind.

It all started with him wanting to hold his own bottle during feeding time, then he wanted to hold his own spoon .... I was proud and I thought.. My baby is growing up.

Then came the I- don't -want- to- be- carried  phase and I was a little sad because I no longer had a baby to hold and I thought ... My baby is growing up. Its part of life.

Then there was the I- want- to- dress- myself phase, the I- want- to- help - you with everything phase, the 'mommy I want to do everything  alone ' phase and again I thought .. my baby is growing up.

The biggest moment came when I went to Ralphy's  pre-school and the teacher said  that  Ralphy would be going on his first field trip and I  said " what do you mean field trip? he's only a baby! Ralphy, that was standing by, looked at me straight in the eyes and said  " mommy I'm not a baby anymore, I'm a big boy."

And there  it was, the moment I was afraid would come too soon came and went, to confirm what I already knew, he is growing up... FAST.

One of those weeks....

Its been one of those weeks so far. I'm hoping I can get it together by Friday.

Weekend recap

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I didn't do anything too exciting or special. Just hung out around the house, did some cleaning and laundry while Ralphy was at the pool with his sister  and daddy. One thing I did realize is ( and this was not a good realization, actually this was more like a wake up call). This weekend, I realized that I've gained weight and I'm very unhappy about it.

So, today I woke up and I started a  food log. I  wrote down everything I ate today and I did pretty well I think. Maybe that's why people say that its good to write down what you eat, I guess it does make you more aware.  Don't worry, I  won't bore you with the boring details. Just know that I did okay  for being the first day and for being a Monday. Now if I can only get my butt to the gym, but lets take it one step at a time shall we?

I must tell you that before I started this new eating better crap, I had  the yummiest , juiciest burger of my entire life. As a matter of fact, I wish I would've taken a picture of it so you could see it. We went to this Colombian place called Los Perros (  it translates to 'the dogs' in ). Just check out the web site. Anyways, I had the best burger ever.  It  was made fresh to order, with actual beef seasoned to perfection, this special cheese that when it melted it  was pure heaven and than they top it off with their special sauce. It was amazing and worth every single calorie, I figured since I was starting fresh today, I might as well go out and end the weekend  with a BAM! and I did and it was so worth it.

Okay, so what if I just made this post mostly about this burger and  that I'm drooling  just thinking about it,so what if that was the peak of my weekend.  Don't  judge me.

My weekend in pictures..

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine went a little something like this:

I did laundry (not my actual  laundry) but this pictures was not too far from it.

My awesome husband let me sleep in a little and it got to the point that I was just too happy to be sleeping to sleep.. go figure.

I got my nails and feet done and yes this is actually me. I love this color and this was the high point  of my weekend.

I was to lazy to actually write something, so  this is it. Hey, it was a rough Monday and I. am. tired. So, on that note, how was your weekend?

Friday, July 15, 2011

It's Friday!!

Friday is finally here!!!  I live for the weekends.  I really have no major plans, except I have a manicure and pedicure appointment with my mom and I look forward  to that time with her and of course you know, I have all the real fun stuff to do to before that, like the laundry and the cleaning. That fun never ends.

I hope you all have a great weekend , have fun and go ahead get some sleep while you're at it.

Late pass for moi

Hi  everyone,

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you  may know that I usually do a "weekend re cap"  kind of post on Mondays, well its now Tuesday. I'm late.

We had an awesome weekend, busy, but awesome.  Ralphy's big sister is here for the summer and I'm always so happy when she is here. She gets to spend some quality time with her little brother.  Ralphy also had his  two cousins  baby "J" she's 2 years old and baby "A" she's 8 months.  Ralphy loved seeing them, we don't get to see them often, since they live out of state, but when we all get together, its a good time, especially for the kids.

As always, I love to share a few pictures, especially of Ralphy. You will not see pictures of the other kids because I  don't like to put pictures of other kids on my blog unless I  get permission first, that's just how I roll.

Daddy and Ralphy playing

Ralphy  loved this big  phone

Me rocking the curly hair ( I have since cut it) pics to come later.

My munchkin in the car- he loves car rides.

Since my  in-laws don't get to have all four grand kids together often, we also went to JCPenny to  have  the kids take pictures with their grandparents. Needless to say that was an interesting experience, one that we will remember for awhile. We then had lunch at an all you can eat Chinese place or maybe  it was Japanese, whatever it was, it was good.  If you have been out to lunch or dinner with more than one kid at a time, you already know how that went. Remember, I'm a mother of one, so yeah it was interesting, but fun.

Anyways, I hope you are all  having a good start to the week. If you are following me on Twitter or liked me on   Facebook, you already know how  my week is going.

That is all for now.

His obsession with Sprout TV

This post was once again inspired by Mama Kat's writing prompts. If you have no idea what I'm talking about then you need to head on over to her site and get with it. Just kidding, not really, but you need to, its awesome. You sign up at her site and every Tuesday she will send you different prompts to blog about.  Once you get the prompt you want, you need to link to her site the following Thursday  and check out other awesome blogs, like this one and leave comments and as we all know the more love you give the more you will get in return, but I digress.

This week, one of the prompts was to  write a letter to  your  child's latest obsession and the reasons why you love or hate it.  So here it is a letter to my son's obsession: The Sprout channel.

Dear Sprout TV,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the wonderful things you have taught Ralphy. He has learned to sing, dance and has even learned he's ABC's thanks to you. So I thank you.  I obviously love that your programming is geared to children, especially  to children he's age, so again I thank you.  There is really only one concern I have about this obsession and that is, when does it end? When do they move on? Please don't take this the wrong way,but if I hear the theme song to firemen Sam one more time, I think I will scream.

I must clarify that when I mean obsessed, I mean he is crazy-over the top -excited when he hears the theme songs for the wiggles or firemen Sam or Nina and star, Calliou, Angelina the ballerina ( or whatever her name is). As you can tell, he loves every show, at every minute of the day. In the mornings, he watches the Sunny side up show and  before bed time he watches Nina and Star. When does it stop? The other day I was at work and I had the  theme song to firemen Sam in my head! Seriously, I love you,but this needs to end. Thank God he goes to preschool because if not, I think I would have a real problem.

Oh and did  I mention, he can only watch it on the big TV of the house because that's where  we have the cable box, so hubby and I are stuck watching the smaller TV and no  we can't switch the box to the other TV, how dumb do I look? Don't answer that.

Sincerely,

Alex
Mama’s Losin’ It

Go ahead and tell me, what's your child's obsession?

My biggest pet peeve about parenting

Mama’s Losin’ It

This post was inspired by Mama Kat's writing work shop. She wanted us to "stir the pot" as she put it and write about our biggest pet peeve when it comes to other parents and their parenting. I thought " oh this is a good one."  So, I started thinking  about what really gets me mad or bothers me when it comes to other people and how they parent their kids. Mind you,  I know that every parent has the right to raise their kid as they see fit,  I mean it is their kid. I would never say anything to a parent about their parenting skills, unless you ask and believe me, if you ask I will give you my honest opinion, not just what you want to hear.

So, what is my biggest pet peeve about other parents and their parenting?  I don't understand and I don't think I will ever understand how there are parents and I know a few, that don't give kids a set bed time.  I mean, lets be real, What  could a preschooler be doing up at  10:30PM?  Please explain it to me, because I, for one, don't get get it.

To some of you , this might not be a big deal and I guess it depends on the age of the kids and other factors, for example, your own upbringing.  My mom, for example, had  us in bed by 9:00PM   on  school nights and on the weekends we could stay up a little later. That of course, changed as we got older, but I remember that on school nights, bed time was 9:00PM sharp.  I didn't understand it back then of course, but I sure understand it now.

My son, as many of you may know is 3 yrs old and he goes to preschool. He's bed time is 8:30P. On the weekends, I let him stay up until maybe 9:00P, no later. Now there may be some occasions, like new year's eve for example, that he could stay up later, if he wants to, but come on new year's  is only once a year.

What gets me even more mad, is that these are  the same parents that are complaining because the kids don't want to get  up in the morning or because they are sleepy, hmm I wonder why?

In conclusion, I personally think its important for kids to have a set routine, especially on the weeknights and part of that is having a set bed time. This is pretty big at our house. Ralphy knows everything that needs to be done before bed time and he does it. There might be a little whining or screaming on he's part, but hey, he is a kid. One thing I can assure you, when Ralphy hears mommy or daddy say its bed time,  he knows we mean business and he  knows exactly what to do.

Please share your opinion. Do you think its important for kids to have a set bed time?

My thoughts on a Saturday

I need more sleep, this waking up so early, even on a Saturday sucks!
I need a maid, someone to clean and do all the laundry
I need to win the lottery so I can afford the maid
While I'm sitting here writing this post, I'm thinking  of all the laundry and the cleaning I have to do.
Daddy is still sleeping... must be nice!
I think one cup of coffee is not going to work,I'm ready for my second cup.
I can't wait to get together with my friends later for a BBQ... I need some friend time.
I have a headache, maybe its from waking up so early? ... hmmm
It looks like its going to to rain, what is it about the rain that makes you sleepy? hmmm I wounder.

Okay, that is all. I have cleaning a laundry to do.

My top 5 MUST's for Summer.

Summer is here and its hot out there! I decided to share my top must do's for the season. Just because we are busy mom's doesn't mean we have to let our selves go. We have to try our hardest to look our best because when you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you will be a much happier mommy.

So here it is, My top 5 things to have and do for summer:

Manicures are a must at a anytime as far as I'm concerned, but especially during the summer.

Pedicures- now this is a MAJOR must. No one wants to see ugly feet, I mean lets be real. So ladies, if you are wearing sandals, please for the love of God get  your feet done. You don't even have to  go anywhere to do it. I've learned to give myself a awesome pedicure whenever I can't afford to go and get one done. I know its not the same, but its better then not doing anything at all.

Waxing- Okay, I know it hurts, but its so worth it. Especially in your bikini area. If you are planing on going  to the beach or pool this summer, this is a must, for obvious reasons that I won't elaborate on any further on.

I am a firm believer that you can never have enough shoes and you can not NOT have a pair of sexy sandals or heels during the Summer.  This is the reason why pedicures are a must. ( I think you get my point about the pedicures).

And lastly, you can't let Summer go by and not have a cute little dress to go with those sexy sandals. I love dresses during the Summer. I mean lets face it, its just too hot for pants!

So there you have ladies, these are my top 5 must's for Summer. Share yours.

This weekend was blah...

This weekend was going  okay. It was actually going better than last weekend, but then it happened, Miami lost in the NBA finals. I know, I know its just a game and life will go on, but right now all I want to do is scream!!. I'm so disappointed.  You all need to take that weird look off your faces. Can I just go through the emotion? It is pat of the healing process.

Yes, I love basketball. I love to watch it.  You just learned something new about me because I don't think too many people know that. So there, now you know. So because of surprising turn of events ( because in my mind I just knew they were going to win, I just knew it) my weekend was blah!

Lets hope next weekend is much better. Especially since its Father's day.

That is  all , yes really. I will be over it by tomorrow.

This weekend was...

This weekend was a total BUST. We didn't do anything exciting, we were all sick. After 3 sleepless nights, with first the  munchkin getting, sick and then the hubby right after,  it was not fun at all.  It all started Wednesday night, so by Friday I was exhausted.

Then of course they started feeling better and I started feeling horrible. So, I spent Saturday and Sunday in bed, drinking hot tea,  orange juice, apple juice and of course chicken soup. My hubby took good care of me and with a little help from the in laws,  slowly by surely we are all getting back to normal.

The only way I can get total peace and relaxation is if I'm sick, this is my conclusion.  It's just the way it is, but I rather have my 10 minute "alone time" in the bathroom (  you know you all do it too) then have a whole weekend in bed with a fever.

I must tell you that the peak of my weekend was when Ralphy came into my room to see me and he brought me he's big Elmo to keep me company. Isn't he the sweetest munchkin in the world or what?

Yeah, I'm a lucky girl.

The Joys of Motherhood

If  you have been reading my blog for awhile or not, you already know that I love being a mom, being a mom ROCKS my world to the 10th power. Its the best thing ever. You get my point.  More importantly, I love being Ralphy's mom. He is the cutest  little boy in the world and no I'm not just saying that because I'm he's mom, anybody that has any sense can see it, but we all know its not all pink and roses in  motherhood.

Motherhood can kick your butt, it can drain you  like no other job in the world.  Take me, for example, my munchkin has been sick for a few days now, fever, stuffy nose,  coughing, the works and I have come to the conclusion that  no one will ever deal with so many different bodily fluids EVER. For your sake, I won't  elaborate on that any further.

Another not so great thing about motherhood, less sleep. Its reality, moms sleep less, its part of the job.  Not only do we sleep less, at least at the beginning, but we can also function. Take me for example (again), since my munchkin has been sick , I can count on one hand how many hours I've slept in the last 2 days. If you happen to follow me on Twitter, you probably know that last night I slept 2 hours. Its thanks to the lord above and coffee, that I am able to write this post. Oh and did I mention daddy is sick too? Yeah, because it would just be to easy if it were just Ralphy being sick.

The joys of motherhood, we sleep less,  we kiss boo boos, we have black circle under our eyes, but we are the glue that keeps it all together. What would the world be with out mothers? I don't even want to know.

P.S. This post was written while both daddy and Ralphy  sleep.  No one was neglected  in the writing  of this post.
